Hearing impairment can happen at birth or start after birth. In everal countries all newborn undergo hearing screening for diagnosing hearing impairment or deafness in children. If your child is deaf or hard of hearing, he might use spoken language, sign language or a combination to talk. Depending on your child’s deafness, listening devices might help your child hear spoken language.

If your baby has a blocked tear duct, his eye will water constantly and he might have discharge from the eye when he wakes up. A blocked tear duct will usually fix itself. But see your doctor if your baby has symptoms of redness, swelling or green discharge around her eye. If the blocked tear duct hasn’t gone away by the time your baby turns one year old, see your doctor.
